December 30, 2024Hello! Happy New Year once again! I know the state of the comic has been disappointing, and I sincerely apologize for that. These last few years have been rough, and it's not showing any signs of getting better. I had big hopes for 2024, and unfortunately I was unable to deliver. And so I have decided that to keep the story going, I need to make a big change. From here on out Blonde Sunrise won't be just a comic. I will be telling the story in the way I find most suitable, including writing, illustrations, and occasionally more comic pages. I know it might disappoint you that I won't be continuing it entirely as a comic, but this is the change I've had to make to sustain the story. I started Blonde Sunrise when I was still just a kid, and over the years it has become more and more difficult to find the time to work on it. It's always just been me working on this, and one person can only do so much. While I wish I could keep the comic going, it's no longer become realistic for me to do so. I've been feeling immense guilt for this for a very long time, and so I'm doing what I need to do in order to move forward. While I know it may be jarring to go from comic pages to written media, I still hope you continue to enjoy the story. I don't have as much experience in the writing aspect of storytelling, so it will be a learning curve for me. But so far, I have found a lot of joy switching to writing, and it's given me a newfound excitement for the story. The slow pace of a webcomic was not a good match for the length of Blonde Sunrise, and there's still a LOT of story to get through. With this new format, it's my hope that the pace of the storytelling will increase significantly. With that said, I don't have an update schedule. It definitely will be a lot more frequent than it has been in recent years, but I can't promise you exactly when updates will happen. I do have ways to get notified when updates happen though. As always, you can follow the RSS feed, as well as get notifications from Tumblr. I do want you to know that I've moved off of Twitter, but now you can also find update notifications on Bluesky. And as before, updates will always be posted first on my Patreon. I also want to talk about the current state of the website. This website was built mostly by myself, but I'm no web designer. I've been using the same basic code since 2011, and I understand that doesn't make for the cleanest website. I know mobile especially doesn't look too great. I would like to overhaul the website for ease of viewing sometime in the future, but as an alternative solution for now I have decided to provide a mirror on Tumblr. It's my hope that this can help people who may not like using the website, and be easier to use for mobile readers. Sorry again that updates have been so slow. I love Blonde Sunrise dearly, and I want nothing more than to see it continue. I hope you enjoy the story. Thank you for your patience, and thank you for reading and supporting as long as you have! Happy New Year!
